Leather selection
Select leather based on grain, thickness, and consistency to ensure a solid foundation.

At CERNIR, every strap is made through a clear and consistent process. Each step is carried out by hand, following a fixed sequence from leather selection to final inspection.
Nothing is rushed. The work is done with care, control, and attention at every stage to make sure the structure, stitching, and finish meet our standard.
Below is the full process, broken down step by step. Each stage follows a fixed sequence, carried out by hand with careful control from start to finish.
Select leather based on grain, thickness, and consistency to ensure a solid foundation.
Cut the leather into rough blanks, keeping edges clean and accurate.
Split the leather to the required thickness for balanced wear.
Skive the ends to reduce bulk and allow for clean folding.
Bond reinforcement layers at stress points to improve durability.
Shape the padding to define the strap’s profile and curvature.
Bond and assemble all layers according to the intended structure.
Trim to final shape, ensuring precise proportions and clean lines.
Create a crease line along the edges to define the profile.
Mark stitch lines and punch holes evenly and accurately.
Hand stitch using the saddle stitch technique for strength and control.
Prepare the edges by sanding and smoothing for finishing.
Apply edge paint in multiple layers, allowing proper drying between coats.
Craft and finish the keeper loops to ensure a secure fit.
Punch adjustment holes in straight, consistent spacing.
Install the buckle and check for a secure fit.
Install quick-release spring bars for easy strap changes.
Inspect the strap for structure, stitching, edges, and overall finish.
